Local people raising local money to meet local needs. Since 1986, the United Way of Millburn-Short Hills has strived to meet the human care needs of the people who live and work in our community. We do this by first researching the needs of the community and then developing strategies for providing the resources to the people who need it most. We partner with over 20 non-profit agencies to develop programs that benefit our children, our elderly neighbors and others in the midst of family crisis or who are victims of abuse.
To date, over $3 million has been distributed to deliver social services directly to those in need, including crises intervention, emergency food and shelter, family counseling, physical rehabilitation, and youth development.
"Your generosity ensures that the Valerie Fund's mission to provide hope, care and compassion to children with cancer and blood disorders will continue." Barry Kirschner, Executive Director, the Valerie Fund
"CPS found Andrew L his job at TJ Maxx when he graduated from ECLC. With assistance from the United Way of Millburn Short Hills, Community Personnel Services is able to provide continual support for Andrew and other clients with disabilities. Andrew stocks shelves in the shoe department and helps maintain the parking lot. He enjoys his job very much and TJ Maxx considers him to be a valued employee."
Alison Chernela, Executive Director, CPS
"We will use these funds to purchase new eyeglasses for area residents and to continue our "Community Connection" program that promotes volunteerism in the Millburn-Short Hills area. Thank you!"
